Fielmann chooses Product Information Management from jCatalog

Europe-wide deployment - Since January 9th last, all European branches access the product information system

Dortmund/Hamburg, March 3, 2006 - By using jCatalog, Fielmann ensures consistent and up-to-date product information.

"By connecting the central components of the Hamburg administrative system with the SAP system, our branches can, at any time, view the up-to-date article inventory and verify availability" says Fielmann project manager Henning Schorling. The system offers flexible search capabilities, i.e. apart from searches in different product catalogs and hierarchical searches in different, partial assortments, searches for definable, product group-specific article attributes can be conducted.

The attributes are classified and are available in multiple languages. In this way, all countries receive the same information in their language, at the same maintenance cost. "This facilitates a much easier search process for branch employees", says Fred Wichmann, department manager for development of branch systems. In the jCatalog system, all available information pertaining to an article is summarized. This includes not only the master data maintained in the SAP system. Additional product information (e.g. ad/offer texts, image references, additional data sheets) is maintained directly in the new catalog system.

In this way, all Fielmann branches are up-to-date at all times! A sophisticated access rights / administration concept controls the permissions for adding, modifying and deleting articles. This is important, as the branches' rights will differ from the rights of employees in the operating departments of the administrative system. Users in Fielmann branches can order articles directly from the catalog and present the same to their customers the following day. This is accomplished by simply adding the indicated article to a shopping cart, the content of which can be modified at any time, and can finally be sent as an order to the administrative system. Wit this, orders are created directly in Fielmann's ERP system (SAP) and become available as a booking for the production and logistics centre PuLZ in Rathenow.
