ERNST Apparatebau chooses the product information
management system of jCatalog (PIM)
Export of Product data in TECDOC
Dortmund, 09/06/05 - ERNST Apparatebau GmbH &
Co. KG, Hagen, has chosen the jCatalog software.
The deployment of a Product Information Management
system is aimed at the centralization of all product-relevant
data in the company. The savings potential lies
in the elimination of redundancies in the various
systems, and in reduced maintenance costs in the
relevant departments.
By using jCatalog, information about the numerous
products can be made available to customers, prospective
buyers, employees, and for sales support. Furthermore,
the data will be channeled to various output formats
(price lists, main catalogs and subcatalogs, CD-ROMs,
etc) as well as TecDoc (combined electronic catalog
for the automotive aftermarket). "We have chosen
to deploy a standard software package to be able
to respond quickly and flexibly to market demands",
explains Wolfgang Schlemmer, Ernst project manager.
Another focus is the output of data to print
catalogs. "As before, our customers require print
catalogs to support their ordering process", says
Wolfgang Schlemmer, "by using jCatalog, we are
able to provide our customers with tailor-made
catalogs in a timely and cost-effective manner".
In the future, the main catalog will be generated
directly with jCatalog. Through a corresponding
interface (Indesign jCatalog-Plugin), the system
provides support for a manual revision in the
DTP system.
ERNST-Apparatebau has developed and manufactured
emission systems since 1919 and made a breakthrough
on the international market as far back as the
1930s. Today, the "company for the people" presents
itself in top shape. Be it standard silencers
or sport silencers, catalytic converters or original
assembly parts, all components combine an optimal
performance with the highest reliability for a
long, above-average lifespan of ERNST emission
systems.
