ARGE Neue Medien presents new portal with electronic marketplace solution from jCatalog
Leading industry portal for the sanitary ware industry with more than 80 manufacturers,
offering more than 1 million product information items and new functions
Paderborn/Dortmund, February 25 2008 - after their request for bids for the development of
an extended industry portal for the sanitary ware / HVAC industry, ARGE Neue Medien has chosen
solution components from jCatalog Software AG.
With the Sanitary ware / HVAC industry portal, ARGE Neue Medien now offers a central internet
platform with approx 80 manufacturers from the sanitary ware / HVAC industry, aiming at
industries, wholesale, industrial art, planners and architects. The portal shows interested
parties the latest product specifications, images and computer plan data for bathrooms and
makes them available for download, free of charge. Specific products of all manufacturers can
be searched and ordered. The basis for this is formed by the entire product line of the
industry's suppliers sitting in a central data pool.
A special requirement for the software is therefore: to take supplier catalogs of various
formats and manufacturers and create a uniform format via flexible interfaces to the base data
server of ARGE Neue Medien. After a check on specific quality criteria by ARGE Neue Medien,
these product data are made available in the HVAC industry portal in the form of an online
catalog, accessed by more than 10,000 handicraft industries, construction companies and
suppliers. All products can be fetched and ordered conveniently through the online catalog.
As the portal is also a platform for electronic business processes and expects ever increasing
numbers of users, the reliability of the system has the highest priority.
Convenient self-service for suppliers - Professional search for the crafts
The software of jCatalog AG fulfills precisely these core points and addresses two important
functions of the HVAC marketplace with the products Self Service Manager and the Online Product
Catalog: via the Self Service Manager, various manufacturers can easily and securely transmit
their product data to the server of ARGE Neue Medien. This ensures flawless base data and
expedites the work processes. From there, the data pass through a quality seal check by ARGE
Neue Medien employees and are made available to around 250 large wholesale companies, and to
craftsmen and construction companies in the HVAC industry via the Online Product Catalog.
During the conversion, the standard interfaces of the software are adapted optically to the
layout of the internet portal and integrated directly in the portal interface.
Via the Advanced Search option of the Online Product Catalog one can conduct precise
searches on more than 1 million products of all manufacturers. The user can find the entire
product line of all manufacturers including manufacturing/EAN numbers, short descriptions,
long descriptions and discount groups. Moreover, logical data are available, such as dimensions,
weights, minimum order quantity etc.. The offer is complemented by product images, assembly
instructions, announcements, gross target price recommendations from the manufacturer and all
data files needed for the computer based bath design. Via the shopping cart function, the
products can be put in one's electronic shopping cart with a click of the mouse. Price,
availability and order status queries complement the portal's service offerings.
